Kumo was born from an exploration of softness as a spatial concept. Inspired by the Japanese word kumo, meaning “cloud,” Ameline envisioned a sofa that appears to float within a space, combining visual lightness with deep, enveloping comfort. Rather than imposing a rigid geometry, she chose an organic, irregular form that feels natural, intuitive and welcoming — much like a cloud gently shaping itself around its surroundings.
Kumo naturally accommodates multiple uses within a single composition. It can be arranged as a generous lounge setup for relaxed gatherings or moments of pause, or reconfigured into a low dining environment that invites more active interaction. This versatility allows Kumo to adapt seamlessly to the diverse rhythms of hospitality spaces, from informal lounging to casual dining and everything in between.
